Matchmade! Computers donated to Glasgow Wood by North West Glasgow Voluntary Sector Network SCIO

Some of the high-quality products made by Glasgow Wood from rehoused timber.

The team was thrilled when Martina Johnston-Gray, Network Manager of North West Glasgow Voluntary Sector Network SCIO, responded to Glasgow Wood’s charity need. The local voluntary sector network has been running Plugged In, its IT recycling project, since 2020, and when they saw the charity’s call for support on X, formerly known as Twitter, they sprung to action to deliver six computers to the charity just streets away!

It’s fantastic when things come together, and an organisation comes back to us to say they can help the charity out. Huge thanks to Martina for spotting the social post and immediately delivering the PCs to Glasgow Wood.

The Charity:

Diverting timber from landfill, Glasgow Wood reuses and rehouses the material to build high-quality, solid wood furniture and accessories. The charity and social enterprise also works on bespoke enquiries and larger home, commercial, and social sector projects.

As well as working towards a more sustainable planet, Glasgow Wood believes in the wellbeing of the local community – and so provides valuable training and volunteer opportunities to those facing unemployment and social exclusion.

The Project:

Despite the hands-on nature of the social enterprise, Glasgow Wood’s staff and volunteers also need online access and have been making do with old I.T. equipment.
