A perfect match: Foot Anstey donates to refugee aid charity

A Good Thing’s purpose is to make life easier for both charities and businesses alike by proposing sustainable methods. The supplies listed on our app are endless in variety and offer great support to those in need.

Foot Anstey has a history of listing all sorts of items on the A Good Thing platform – everything from conference tables to clocks. The company has shared its recent experience of using the platform to donate a Bosch under-counter fridge in excellent condition to the City Life Education and Action for Refugees (CLEAR) charity in Southampton. Making a clear decision to invest part of its net profits into responsible environmental targets, Foot Anstey follows through with its declarations by following our ecological approach.

Perfect timing

This particular match occurred when the CLEAR charity’s fridge had just broken: Pete White told us he immediately turned to A Good Thing.

Foot Anstey’s Kathi Aggett told us: "the gentleman from CLEAR was so happy, as their fridge broke that same morning we uploaded ours. Instead of looking at shops, he thought he’d check the app first.”

CLEAR is a Southampton-based charity seeking to support asylum seekers and refugees who are integrating into British society. A key element to this is to provide them with a community space to help them rebuild their lives.

Pete White from CLEAR described the match as “perfect timing”, going on to say: “the one we collected was almost new, so that's been really good”.

The alternative

This match epitomises our goals at A Good Thing: to provide an alternative to landfill use and over-consumption. An alternative route that connects businesses to charities, and supports communities by encouraging the reduction of waste. We are so proud that our approach cuts costs for charities, all while promoting a sustainable culture.
