Rewarding reuse: TC Branding donates 40 book bags to The Sid Youth CIC

A Good Thing is an online platform that allows businesses to give things away to their local charities. Less to landfill, more to a good cause! The case study below is an example of the wonderful impact that can be made through these matches.

Reuse is our watchword at A Good Thing, and it’s such a pleasure to be reporting on another successful match in which waste is avoided. On this occasion, TC Branding generously donated 40 book bags to a fantastic charity in the south east of England.

TC Branding is a Sussex-based branded merchandise company and paying supporter of A Good Thing. In the past it has donated items including branded water bottles, hand sanitiser, USB sticks and gloves via the platform. Fiona Andrews from TC Branding explained why her firm was giving the book bags away:

“The book bags were surplus stock. We were delighted that The Sid Youth CIC could make good use of them rather than having them unused or sent to landfill.”

Fiona added:

“The process was very smooth. There are so many excellent charities who are in need of support: it’s wonderful that A Good Thing puts companies like ours in touch with them so we can support in this way.”

TC Branding is committed to sustainable practices, as highlighted by its Sustainability Statement in which it sets out various ways in which it aims to be ecologically responsible. This includes supporting suppliers and manufacturers based in the UK as much as possible, and also using low-energy LED lighting – to name just a few.

“A small thing to some”, but with a big impact

The Sid Youth CIC, the recipient of the bags, is a Community Interest Company that supports young people in the Worthing area by providing youth clubs, school workshops, mentoring and holiday activity programmes.

Paul Read, Director and Programme Lead at The Sid Youth, told us:

“The bags have been fantastic for the young people who attend our alternative provision. They have provided somewhere where the students can keep all their work and iPads together. I applied for the bags and had a very quick response, which was great. The bags were sent out in the post, which was a big help. This may seem like a small thing to some, but (as a CIC) being able to source items we need or that can benefit our young people is really helpful. Thank you to all involved, including A Good Thing!”
