Volunteer spotlight! James Goodfellow

Tell us a little bit about yourself

Hello! I’m James from Milton Keynes. I work as a replay operator and volunteer with A Good Thing in my spare time. I love politics and history, especially Napoleon. I’m learning German and I do a bit of article-writing.

Why did you choose to volunteer with A Good Thing?

I love the idea behind A Good Thing, and it felt like something meaningful and enjoyable to get involved with. The people are lovely, and it is an organisation I hope to stay with for a long time.

What’s your role as part of the volunteering programme?

I help with business engagement, which includes things like welcoming new sign-ups, checking in with quieter accounts, and doing sector-specific outreach across all sorts of industries.

What do you hope to learn from your volunteering experience?

I would like to become a better communicator and learn how to make a real difference, for A Good Thing and with whatever pops up in the future.

Tell us about a success you’ve had in the role so far

A highlight was getting A Good Thing mentioned on a charity website. I also hear back from contacts who plan to share us with other charities and businesses, which tells me the work is making a difference.
