Woolly items donated to four charities across the UK to keep them warm this winter

Preseli has recently donated 75 wonderful items via A Good Thing to be dispersed to charities to help keep people warm this winter!

The North Wales-based promotional merchandise firm Preseli has been a big supporter of A Good Thing for a while now, having been introduced to us in June 2023 at a British Promotional Merchandise (BPMA) conference. So we were delighted when Jan Alder, the Compliance Officer for the company, decided to donate woolly hats, gloves, tablet holders, phone holders, and woolly scarves- all with a sweet snowman design on!

The items needed to go: they were either end-of-line stock or no longer required by the customer. If the items had not been donated via A Good Thing, they would have been destroyed, given away or remained in stock. But thanks to A Good Thing’s platform, they have now been donated to charities in need.

Jan stated that it was a ‘very easy, smooth process’ to upload the items and send them out to charities. She told us it was ‘absolutely wonderful to see items being put to such good use, and the difference it makes’.

Thanks to Preseli’s generosity, these items reached charities across the country, from Bristol, to Leicestershire to Coventry!

Support provided to HF Trust Ltd

One of the many charities that greatly benefitted was the HF Trust Ltd, which received gloves and tablet holders from Preseli. The charity needed these items as it supports people with differing abilities, both physical and mental. Ian Woolford, a Support Worker at HF Trust Ltd, told us ‘we are always appreciative of items we can give out to people who have less than we would wish for them.’

Ian went on to describe the process of using the platform, and getting hold of the items as ‘super easy!’

Having the items at the disposal of HF Trust Ltd will bring happiness to those receiving them - as well as a little bit of income for overheads.

Items gifted for a charity fayre

The Orchard Parents’ Association (OPA) was another charity that received phone holders and woolly scarves from Preseli. The OPA charity supports its school by helping to fill in gaps in the Local Education Authority’s funding. According to Tracy, a parent governor at the Orchard Parents’ Association, the charity used these items as tombola prizes at their Christmas Fayre: without these generous gifts they would have had fewer prizes to give out, and would have therefore raised less money.

The charity stated that the process of using A Good Thing’s platform was very easy, and the funds raised are being put towards the renovation of an IT suite at the primary school.

Items to keep them warm

Forest of Hearts is a charity that generates ‘gardens for good’, with the goal of bettering wellbeing, increasing biodiversity and improving employability. The charity creates centres of purpose where people feel they can develop their skills, confidence and connections.

Forest of Hearts received 6 woolly hats with snowmen on and 6 woolly scarves via A Good Thing, which they would otherwise have had to buy.

Carole, the founder of Forest of Hearts, described the process of acquiring the items as a ‘very easy and quick process’ and said she would very much recommend A Good Thing to other charities!

“We really value the help and support of a Good Thing - thanks!”

What do all these charities have in common? They would all recommend A Good Thing to other charities! We are so grateful that we are able to help non-profit organisations grow thanks to businesses’ generous donations, helping reduce landfill waste and improving lives along the way.
