5 coloured notebooks

In the autumn of 2025, promotional merchandise company Juniper Trading donated 2,000 brand-new notebooks via the A Good Thing platform. This generous donation was matched with two charities in Northamptonshire – The Lewis Foundation and Ailsa’s Aim. both providing important support to people in need.

Back to the beginning

The notebooks were given away by Juniper Trading, a trade supplier of stitched promotional items. As an organisation, Juniper Trading has committed to conducting its business in a sustainable way by:

  • using sustainable material options

  • recycling offcuts to make smaller products

  • reducing waste sent to landfill (through increased recycling and reuse where possible)

  • using energy from 100% renewable resources.

By using the A Good Thing platform, Juniper Trading has ensured that its surplus stock has avoided landfill and has instead been diverted to be used as a resource for charities in their vital work.

Wellbeing gift packages

The first charity match was to The Lewis Foundation which supports people in hospital with cancer by delivering free care packages. These packages include practical items that patients may struggle to buy in hospital or may not be able to afford. The Lewis Foundation started by delivering 80 gift packages a month to one hospital, and it now delivers over 2,500 gifts to 17 hospitals across the Midlands each month.

Lorraine Lewis, CEO of The Lewis Foundation, told us about the impact of the donation on the people her charity supports:

“Thanks to this thoughtful donation, we’ve been able to include these journals in our packs, giving patients the chance to express themselves and take a little time for self-care during such a difficult period. It’s not just about the gift itself, but the message it carries: you are not alone, and someone cares.”

Essential care support

The second charity match was Ailsa’s Aim. The charity is dedicated to supporting people affected by cancer, gestational diabetes or who have experienced premature and problematic childbirth. Beyond this, the charity supports the carers and staff who make sure that everyone experiencing these challenges is supported in the best possible way.

The charity’s work spans practical support, emotional support, fundraising and signposting. Ailsa’s Aim has completed campaigns with patients, families and professionals in over 10 hospitals across the UK and continues to work to support more people every day.

Sara Whatley, CEO and Founder of Ailsa’s Aim, shared her experience of using A Good Thing:

“The process of receiving the notebooks was incredibly straightforward and seamless. The notebooks have had a real impact, allowing us to include them in our support packs and use them with the families we work with, giving people a practical but thoughtful item during what is often a very difficult time.”

A simple way to make a really big difference

The A Good Thing platform offers businesses a really simple way to donate surplus or unwanted items to local charities. The ripple effect of donating via A Good Thing is perfectly summarised by Sara Whatley from Ailsa’s Aim, who told us:

“We’re extremely grateful for the support: it’s a brilliant example of how business donations can directly benefit charities and the people they support.”
