Charity need met: Prospects Kensington
In this blog we cover the success story of the TCM Group responding to Voluntary Action Islington’s request for a desk: it turns out the two organisations are a lot closer than expected…
A match made in Kensington
In spring 2025, A Good Thing introduced a new platform feature that essentially switches the donation process around: it was called ‘charity needs’. Instead of waiting for offers to appear, charities can now post exactly what they’re looking for – whether that’s office furniture, laptops, stationery or anything in between – and businesses can respond directly.
That’s exactly what happened when Prospects Kensington, an education-focused charity in west London, uploaded a need for computers, desks, chairs and other essentials to furnish its community learning space.
A successful match
Almost as soon as JLL joined the platform, it spotted this request. The company had recently refurbished its offices at 40 Leadenhall and had several high-quality office chairs looking for a new home. The donation didn’t stop there: JLL also threw in a coffee machine, adding a little extra comfort to Prospects’ community hub.
“The chairs and the coffee machine are very useful indeed” we heard from Prospects, “we will definitely be using A Good Thing again. Charities like ours are always in need of resources and this platform gives us the opportunity to access resources – which helps the organisation and our service users.”
Prospects Kensington is a long-standing charitable organisation supporting people across west London into education, training and employment. Through initiatives like its Futures programmes (for both young people and adults), it offers targeted support to help local residents gain skills and move closer to work. With the new furniture in place, the charity can now create a more welcoming and comfortable environment for its learners.
A growing relationship
For JLL, this first match was more than just a one-off donation. The company has since become a paying annual supporter of A Good Thing, helping to fund the platform’s work and ensure that more charities nearby can benefit in future.
While this was by no means JLL’s first time donating items to charity, we were delighted to hear the firm’s feedback on doing so via the A Good Thing platform instead:
“We were finding it time-consuming and challenging finding organisations that might need our items: A Good Thing has made that process much easier.”
This match shows the potential for the new ‘charity needs’ feature to save organisations valuable time and effort. You can still help Prospects Kensington by checking out its live charity need.
