Providing for less privileged communities
The Hertfordshire-based Comfort Foundation UK charity joined A Good Thing in November 2024 and soon afterwards created a ‘charity need’ on the platform for medical supplies and stationery, amongst other things. They wrote:
“We hope to offer these items to less privileged communities in West Africa to support and aid in their learning. We also hope to use these items to support new mothers and babies.”
Comfort Foundation UK is a charity founded by Beverley Annan-Forson, driven by her passion to assist underprivileged children and their families. The charity is entirely volunteer-run, with a mission to ‘bring clean water and education to children in remote communities. We extend our support to disadvantaged communities, orphanages and families with children in Ghanaian children’s hospitals.’
Beverley from Comfort Foundation UK told us a bit about her experience:
“We received a large bundle of pens and some correction fluid. We also received some medical supplies, including bandages and sterile gloves. These will be shipped to Ghana, where we distribute items to hospitals, orphanages and schools. The donations provided will have a big impact on the lives of those receiving them, as they do not get much help and rely on donated goods.”
Responding to a worthwhile cause
In September 2025, central London building firm Spence joined A Good Thing and immediately spotted the ‘need’ by Comfort Foundation UK. Spence responded, saying it had gloves, waterproof plasters, medical dressings and stationery to donate. Stacey Russell, Administrator at Spence, told us:
“It felt really rewarding to know our items were going to a worthwhile cause rather than going to waste.”
Spence is dedicated to promoting eco-friendly solutions and minimising its environmental impact. According to Stacey Russell, the firm came across A Good Thing when “looking for ways to strengthen our circular economy efforts and to ensure that any surplus materials or equipment we have are put to good use”. Stacey explained:
“The platform was incredibly easy to navigate, and it didn’t take long to find a charity that could make great use of the products we wanted to donate.”
Stacey described the whole process as efficient and added that Spence will definitely use A Good Thing again, “in the future, whenever we have extra resources to share. We’d absolutely encourage other companies to do the same, It’s a simple, positive way to make a real difference.”
