Volunteer spotlight! Grace Pontin
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I’m a recent graduate from the University of Nottingham and now live in Cardiff. I’ve been volunteering with A Good Thing for almost a year now and started off doing outreach to businesses and now I copywrite articles.
Why did you choose to volunteer with A Good Thing?
I was looking to gain some experience in a more admin-based setting but stumbled upon A Good Thing’s volunteering page in the process. The goals that A Good Thing is trying to achieve (reducing waste while aiding those less fortunate at the same time) really resonated with me. I thought it was a really clever way of tackling two large issues that we face in modern society.
What’s your role as part of the volunteering programme?
At the moment I have been copywriting articles for the website for people to understand the real stories that benefit the users of A Good Thing.
What do you hope to learn from your volunteering experience?
I’m hoping to further develop my range of roles and learn how best to manage the tasks set to me.
Tell us about a success you’ve had in the role so far.
To see the articles I’ve written be uploaded to the website feels like a success in my writing abilities and I’ve been happy to see their development from start to a finished product.
